WWE Announce Ex-NFL Star For Next Week's SmackDown
Oh, and Mojo Rawley will be there too.
Ex-NFL player Rob Gronkowski has been announced for next week's episode of WWE SmackDown.
The company proudly trumpeted Gronk's arrival and even brought Raw's Mojo Rawley over to the empty-arena blue brand show to hype his old pal's full debut. Rawley has known Gronkowski personally for years, and he must be excited about seeing a friend join the roster.
It's unclear whether or not Gronk will actually work a match (he has been training) or appear in some sort of promo segment to talk about his ambitions in WWE. The company will likely be patient with the former New England Patriot - it's not every day that three-time Super Bowl champions decide to become pro wrestlers, and the former NFL tight end has that crossover celeb appeal WWE so dearly love.
Recently, Gronkowski had been working as an analyst for FOX, and he has appeared on WWE programming before. The then-active Patriot jumped the barrier at WrestleMania 33 in Orlando to work a spot with Jinder Mahal, and he's also shown up on Backstage this year.
The 6'6" star, who weighs 260lbs and is still only 30 years old, could be an interesting addition to the locker room.
