WWE Announces First Title Match For Extreme Rules 2021?
The arena hosting Extreme Rules just dropped info on WWE's first planned title match.
The Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio has announced that Bianca Belair will challenge Becky Lynch for the SmackDown Women's Title at Extreme Rules 2021 on 26 September.
Arena chiefs leaked a video on YouTube that revealed the bumper title bout is planned - the interesting thing here is that WWE hasn't quite reached that point on television. They did confirm Bianca as number one contender on SmackDown (she won a four-way elimination match against Carmella, Zelina Vega and Liv Morgan), but announcers didn't put a date on the showdown with Lynch.
An Extreme Rules match is coming though, at least according to the folks in Columbus.
Becky sensationally returned at SummerSlam to take the title from Belair in just 26 seconds. There was a heelish edge to the segment, but WWE could still go babyface vs. babyface in late-September. That'd be a risk, of course, because Lynch is far more popular with the hardcore fanbase than Bianca.
Don't be surprised if WWE makes an official announcement on this shortly. They may also wait until next week's episode of TV to firm up details and possibly add a stipulation.
