WWE Announces John Cena's Return Match On SmackDown
Here's who WWE has lined up for John Cena on the 30 December 2022 SmackDown!
John Cena will return to the ring for a match on the 30 December episode of SmackDown.
WWE ran a short video towards the end of Friday's edition that revealed the news: Cena will team with Kevin Owens vs. Roman Reigns and Sami Zayn in a bumper tag-team bout on the final broadcast of 2022. That, JC says, is a bid to maintain his proud record of working at least one match per year for decades.
The Bloodline had opined that Owens would struggle to find a partner to face them because Zayn is "his only friend". That's when Cena popped up on the tron to cut a short promo that announced his in-ring comeback for the end of the year.
It's official. Cena and KO vs. Roman and Sami has been booked for the 30 December show.
This will be John's first televised wrestling match since losing to Roman at SummerSlam 2021. He did, however, work a dark bout following the 10 September 2021 SmackDown - there, he teamed with Rey and Dominik Mysterio vs. Reigns and The Usos in six-man tag action.
