The second biggest match set for Backlash has just been cancelled.

Bray Wyatt vs. Randy Orton will not be taking place at the pay-per-view, as Orton reportedly hasn't been cleared to compete. He hasn't wrestled since taking on Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam on August 21st.

PWInsider notes that WWE were hoping to have him cleared in time for tonight, but that didn't pan out. With mere hours to go before showtime, Backlash has just gone from six advertised matches down to five.

This is bad for a number of reasons. The first is that WWE shouldn't have been promoting a match that was up-in-the-air in the first place, as it makes them look foolish. Second of all, Backlash has become even less exciting, and there wasn't that much excitement to begin with.

This is the first brand split exclusive show the company has produced since the draft, and there isn't much star power to speak of. John Cena, the biggest name in the company, will not be wrestling, and now Orton is off too.

There's no word yet on what is set to take the place of Orton vs. Wyatt, and if Bray will be facing someone else instead.

Hopefully WWE figures out a nice surprise soon, as the show could end up being a bit of a disaster.
