WWE Backlash 2020 was taped in advance of its broadcast date by a full week. The show was taped on Sunday morning, as broken by Fightful Select's tall Sean Ross Sapp.

Sapp reports that the Performance Center recruits were brought in early to film the show, at 8:30AM, and were promptly dispatched to work NXT TakeOver: In Your House at Full Sail University later in the day. Sapp reveals that the PC personnel worked from roughly 8:30 until midnight, which might explain the dishevelled state of Robert Stone.

Do you know what this means?

It means that the greatest wrestling match ever has now been committed to tape. God, can you imagine if, somehow, the footage were to go missing?

Maybe this was the plan all along.

Maybe this is how WWE expect to get away with what can't not be an insane self-own of a marketing exercise. Maybe the footage conveniently gets erased, and WWE can say "Damn and blast! This is the greatest wrestling travesty ever!" and then Randy Orton and Edge will work pro wrestling's version of 'Tribute' by Tenacious D.
