WWE Banning "Wade" From King Barrett's Name

Wade no more.

Wade Barrett is apparently no more because WWE has decided to drop the idea of using his first name. Wrestling Observer Radio reports the news and it's probably no surprise to anyone who has watched WWE tv regularly as his first name was dropped for the Bad News Barrett gimmick last year which transitioned to King Barrett a couple of months ago.

There's was no specific reason as to why it was done, but WWE has done that sort of thing in the last few years with guys like Cesaro losing Antonio as a first name and Big E dropping Langston as a last name. When Neville got called up to the main roster, they stopped calling him Adrian Neville too. This name drop is a bit more peculiar since he's been a part of WWE's main roster for five years, so people really know him as Wade. While it hasn't been pushed on TV that much, the WWE.com preview of Barrett's Battleground match against R-Truth states that the crown is on the line. It says that the match "will add a new chapter to their royal rivalry when they battle for control of the crown once and for all." The expectation is that Barrett will beat R-Truth to end the feud and keep the King Barrett name. If he loses then it's probably back to the "Bad News Barrett" since "Wade" is no more. It's worth nothing that his Twitter handle is still @WadeBarrett even though announcers have been instructed to not call him that anymore.
