It's infuriating how much WWE's booking team loves their bulls***, nonsensical finishes, which almost always feel like a triumphant middle finger up at fans. Because WWE is so terrified of having heels win cleanly because, you know, they can't be impressive athletic specimens too, there's gotta be some sort of controversy almost every damn time.
Smackdown originally felt like a great home for AJ, where there was a greater focus on actual wrestling and less on bloated segments and "storytelling". Well, the end of this match made him look like a giant chump.
The AJ-Owens match kicked off just as Game of Thrones was starting on HBO, so naturally, a lot of fans decided to turn over considering the atrocious quality of the PPV up to this point. If you hoped that Owens v AJ might fix that, you were in for a rather rude awakening.
