WWE Beast In The East: 13 Things You Might Have Missed

Curry man... is that you?

Beast in the East was a curious cocktail of show. It was one part house show, two parts NXT TakeOver with just a splash of PPV thrown in. Brock Lesnar was there, but he faced Kofi in the most woefully lopsided pairing in WWE history. Odd. Balor winning the title from Owens was the kind of thunderstorm of fantastic wrestling and storytelling catharsis that closes out a PPV, but then the show was headlined with the kind of tag match better suited to a house show. It's hard to pin down exactly what Beast in the East was, as a show, but there's no denying the quality. From the respectful yet overwhelmingly enthusiastic fans, to the high quality of wrestling (and commentary!) throughout, it was almost like watching what Monday Night Raw could be if it modelled itself more on NXT. That is a very good thing. The results were: Chris Jericho def. Neville (via submission with the Liontamer) Divas Champion Nikki (c) def. Tamina and Paige (pinning Tamina after a forearm smash) Brock Lesnar def. Kofi Kingston (it was a massacre) NEW NXT Champion Finn Balor def. Kevin Owens (c) (after a second Coup de Grace) John Cena & Dolph Ziggler def. King Barrett and Kane (Cena pinning Barrett after an AA) But mixed in amongst the basic, but quality, setup of the night, what tiny little moments stood out?
