WWE Break Two HUGE Records In The Greatest Royal Rumble
Take a bow, Bryan and Braun...
Daniel Bryan may not have won WWE's Greatest Royal Rumble, but he did write his name in the history books.
Entering at number one, the former SmackDown General Manager came within a hair of going coast-to-coast in the 50-man bout, but eventually finished third after being eliminated by Big Cass. The night was far from a dead loss, though: the 76 minutes and 5 seconds he spent in the bout is a new Rumble record.
This smashes Rey Mysterio's old record of 62:12, which has stood since the luchador's match-winning performance in 2006. Rey was in the Greatest Royal Rumble himself, entering at number 28, before Baron Corbin threw him out a few minutes later.
Braun Strowman also smashed his way into the books, eliminating 13 competitors in his match-winning performance, which betters the 12 wrestlers Roman Reigns threw out in 2014.
Given the length of the match and the number of competitors involved, broken records were always likely. While the Greatest Royal Rumble itself wasn't a classic, these two landmarks ensure it'll be referenced for a long, long time, as it's unlikely either will be bettered in a typical 30-man match.
