WWE.com is reporting that WWE Champion John Cena has suffered an injury to his right Achilles tendon whilst performing on the current European tour. The injury occurred during a match with Ryback, his scheduled opponent for his forthcoming title defence at the WWE Extreme Rules pay-per-view on May 19th from St. Louis, Missouri. That match must now be in doubt given Cena's injury but the biggest loser in the situation could be his current challenger Ryback, whose push may need to be halted. WWE revealed the news with the following statement;
WWE.com has learned that WWE Champion John Cena sustained an injury during WWE's European tour. The WWE Champion injured his right Achilles tendon while battling Ryback.
WWE.com had no further update on the injury at the time of writing but one must consider it to be a serious one if they have publicly revealed it in this manner. Injuries are nothing new for John Cena in his tenure as a WWE superstar having battled back from severe neck problems, pectoral tears and other various wear and tear, though he's never had too many periods of lengthy time on the sidelines. Perhaps though the lifestyle of WWE's poster boy has finally caught up with the leader of the Cenation.
