WWE Clash Of Champions 2016: 10 Things You May Have Missed
8. The Ring Ropes Were Purple For The Cruiserweight Match
Post-WWE Draft, it was heartening to see the promotion revert back to using red ring ropes on Raw and blue ones over on SmackDown. For years, the company had simply used either black or white ropes, so the red and blue instantly gave shows a more classic feel.
Every other match at Clash Of Champions had red strands surrounding the ring, but the bout between Brian Kendrick and T.J Perkins over the WWE Cruiserweight Title was different. Some may not pay attention to such things, but the Cruiserweight action was the only match on the show to feature purple ring ropes instead of the usual red.
Following the WWE Tag-Team Title match, there was a lengthy advert for the WWE Network. Further, there was another gap once the Cruiserweights had completed their work. Not dodging the extra effort, WWE had crew members switch over the ropes during these gaps.
It'll take a lot more than purple ropes and mood lighting to develop the new Cruiserweight division, but at least management are trying their best to help guys like Perkins and Kendrick stand out from the crowd.
