WWE Clash Of Champions 2016: Ranking Every Match From Worst To Best
Great wrestling. Bad booking.
Was Clash of Champions better than Backlash? That's the question many WWE fans are struggling with right now, because while the standard of wrestling was probably higher at Clash, almost every single match was hampered by bad booking in the final stretch, resulting in an almost comical number of frustrating, deflating finishes.
As such, Clash was a much less satisfying show than Backlash (which was naturally boosted hugely by AJ Styles' title win), and felt largely inconsequential to the overall WWE picture moving forward. Only one result had any real significance, while the rest felt like treading water, and overall the show wasn't exactly a ringing endorsement for the necessity of brand-specific PPVs.
Still, if you can get over the godawful booking, there was more than a fair share of entertaining wrestling to enjoy. Here is every Night of Champions 2016 match ranked from worst to best...
8. Alicia Fox Vs. Nia Jax
Result: Jax destroys Fox with the Samoan Drop (4:55).
Rating: Let's face it, nobody expected much more from this than a glorified, TV-quality squash match, and that's basically what it delivered in spades. To Fox's credit, she put on one of her best performances in recent times despite the match's short length and end result, but the pre-show ultimately felt like the right place for this match considering it was basically Raw fodder.
There are so many more interesting matches that could've played out to warm the audience up, though, and essentially if you missed this one you probably spent your time doing something more worthwhile.
