Women's wrestling has never been more important to WWE than it is today. The Women's Revolution and rise of stars like Charlotte Flair, Sasha Banks, and Becky Lynch has put the company's female performers on an equal footing with their male counterparts, and WWE have gone all-in on pushing them.

2016 was a transformational year for women's wrestling, particular through the Charlotte vs. Sasha rivalry, and it sounds like WWE have something big up their sleeve for WrestleMania 33. This week's Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that WWE have been contacting a number of former female talents to tell them that they're wanted for the biggest show of the year.

There's no word on how said talent would be used, but WWE have made similar moves in the past. WrestleMania XXV hosted a 25-women battle royal back in 2009, with the likes of Sunny, Molly Holly, and Torrie Wilson returning for the occasion.

Raw Women's Champion Charlotte is set to defend her title against Nia Jax, Bayley, and Sasha Banks at the event, and whoever holds the SmackDown title should also feature on the main card. Whatever WWE have planned for these females of the past, it's clear they have big ideas for women's wrestling at WrestleMania.
