It was announced during this week's Smackdown that there will be a Divas Championship match at WWE's Elimination Chamber event on May 31. The match will see Divas Champion Nikki Bella defend the title in a triple threat match against Naomi and Paige. The reason it's a triple threat match is because Paige won the right to a title shot over a month ago after winning a battle royal. After her win, Naomi attacked her and Paige was unable to get her match due to being storyline injured. In reality, she was off filming a WWE Christmas movie and they had to write her out. Naomi gets a title shot again because she pinned Nikki in the tag team match at Payback last Sunday. Naomi had a title match on Raw, but her buddy Tamina attacked for the disqualification. A title change is certainly possible. Nikki Bella won the Divas Title at Survivor Series, so she's been Divas Champion for half a year. That's a pretty long reign. AJ Lee had the longest Divas Title reign at 295 days. Perhaps WWE wants her to pass AJ since AJ retired, but it may not be wise to have Nikki hold onto the title for another four months. It just seems too long since her reign is starting to lose some steam. Naomi's done well as a heel. Her main story is with Paige due to attacking her and they actually had a pretty good promo exchange. Since Naomi has never been Divas Champion and she is doing well, maybe it's the right time to get the title on her while Paige chases her for it. That could mean the Bellas have a lesser role, though, so WWE may be reluctant to do that. What will be interesting is how much time they get. A typical divas match on a PPV like show gets around 7 minutes. During Wednesday's NXT show, Sasha Banks and Becky Lynch had an incredible match that went about 17 minutes. Will WWE give their man roster divas more time? They usually don't, but if they did in this case it would certainly be welcome by the fans. The rest of Elimination Chamber looks like this: Seth Rollins defends the WWE Title against Dean Ambrose, John Cena vs. Kevin Owens, Elimination Chamber match for the vacant Intercontinental Title (Sheamus, Ryback, Ziggler, Barrett, Rusev, R-Truth) and Elimination Chamber match for the Tag Team Titles (The New Day, Kidd/Cesaro, Lucha Dragons, The Ascension, Los Matadores, Prime Time Players). There's only one more Raw and Smackdown left before Elimination Chamber, so WWE will have to fill out the card quickly and a find a role for some key names like Roman Reigns, Randy Orton, Bray Wyatt and others.
