WWE doctor Chris Amann's defamation lawsuit against CM Punk and Colt Cabana has been delayed, as per a report from Pro Wrestling Sheet.

The case was due to be heard by US courts on Monday, but insider sources now claim that the two parties could look to reach a settlement instead. The website says that "additional delays" are possible, with no firm time-frame for the negotiations disclosed to the public.

Amann announced that he would be suing the pair for $1m more than three years ago after taking exception to remarks made during an appearance by Punk on Cabana's wrestling podcast in 2014. In it, the ex-WWE star alleged that he had received subpar treatment for number of injury complaints (including a serious staph infection).

Cabana is reported to have submitted six pieces of evidence - thought to be audio recordings from the podcast episode in question - ahead of this week's hearing. Along with his former Ring of Honor colleague, he is accused of trying to disparage the claimant's reputation within the industry.

Punk's next public date will see him take to the UFC Octagon on 9 June, for a second-ever professional MMA match opposite Mike Jackson.
