WWE Fastlane 2016: Every Match Ranked From Worst To Best

By Jack Pooley /

2. WHC #1 Contender: Dean Ambrose vs. Roman Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar

Result: Reigns nails a spear on Ambrose for the sneaky win (16:04). Rating: This is easily the most polarising match on the card, because on one hand, about 90% of it was pretty damn entertaining, but it ended in such outrageously awful fashion that it will surely be defined by that conclusion forever more. Booking-wise this one didn't offer many surprises, but Lesnar starting off strong and destroying Reigns and Ambrose was fun to watch. Reigns then spent a good deal of time napping while Ambrose got killed, before the two bros of course teamed up on Brock, in turn giving Brock a little nap time after he's hurled through a table...and another one several minutes later, getting literally buried beneath all the detritus. It's nothing shocking, just standard Triple Threat-type booking. Sadly it was almost all thrown away when Reigns took a Kimura Lock from Brock along with three chair shots from Ambrose...before barely selling them and spearing Ambrose for the win. It was a hilariously awful, anti-climactic ending. The storytelling and psychology were terrible, and so the crowd showered Reigns in boos to demonstrate their disapproval. It was a decent match overall, but the end left it (and the PPV as a whole) on a sour note. 6/10
