2. Sami Zayn Vs. Samoa Joe

Result: Joe defeats Zayn with the Coquina Clutch (9:45).

Rating: An unexpected opener and what a way to open the main show...on paper. This one ended up being way, way too short at less than 10 minutes and ultimately settled for merely being a good match you'd expect to see on TV.

Zayn's excellent selling gave this one high-drama from the outset, but it never really slammed into the gear you'd hope for. Not having Zayn tap out at the end was smart booking and a nice consolation prize at least, but considering the abundance of filler in this PPV, why wasn't it allowed to go for 15-20 minutes? Like so many decisions on this show, baffling. 6/10
