WWE Fastlane 2023: 10 Things That Must Happen

WWE's first PLE without full McMahon control could be bigger than you think!

Some title changes happen because WWE loses faith in the wrestler holding the strap. Others are necessitated by storyline purpose, and it's the latter bracket which fits reigning World Heavyweight Champ and sharp-suited babyface hero Seth Rollins.

Behold the beginning of his redemption arc - it's a story that'll carry Seth through until WrestleMania, and end with him triumphantly hoisting that championship back above his head following a six month internal battle that's as much mental as physical.

Meanwhile, someone who's been tearing it up on Raw can benefit from some time in the hot seat. No, not Shinsuke Nakamura (although he has been excellent as a reborn heel). Someone else. No prizes for guessing who!

That's just one of the things that must happen this Saturday in Indianapolis. Elsewhere, a SmackDown favourite will shoot skyward thanks to "Greatest Of All Time" John Cena, and a key member of the blue brand's female ranks should revert to type.

More Drew McIntyre heel teases, credibility for a recently-formed faction and maybe even a bonus last-minute match can come along for the ride too. Fastlane to 'Mania? Nah, Fastlane to WWE's next chapter.

10. LA Knight Scores The Pin

YEAH!

OK, so you probably knew that one word catchphrase was coming to kick off the entry centred around this match. Genuine question though: Why would WWE book John Cena to score the pin in a crowd-pleasing bumper tag like this when LA Knight is right there. Ask yourselves, who needs it more right now?

Sorry in advance to Bloodline enthusiasts, but Jimmy Uso and Solo Sikoa shouldn't be taking home a 'W' this weekend. In fact, they should bicker following this defeat and pave the way for Paul Heyman to put in another phone call to p*ssed off absentee leader Roman Reigns.

That'll come in handy for SmackDown TV over the next few months. Knight looking like a top star would also be super helpful to the creative team, and that should be one of the bigger mission statements heading into Fastlane. Time to let LA shine and rise up the card towards main events.
