In a move that has surely put a smile on the face of Randy Orton, WWE is reportedly fining wrestlers who hit thigh slaps when throwing kicks.

A performer slapping their thigh when hitting a kick – particularly a superkick – is something that goes back decades, with that slap done to add an impactful sound to the move being dished out.

As per the Wrestling Observer, WWE is now fining talent who continue to slap their leg when performing such a move. Following up on this, Fightful Select reports that a memo was sent out to talent in February to detail this new policy. Similarly, Fightful adds that last week’s WWE events featured a sign stating “NO THIGH SLAPPING” in bold letters.

Where Randy Orton comes into this, the Viper has taken regular digs on social media at the thigh-slapping habit. Most notably, Randal Keith poked fun at former NXT Champion Tommaso Ciampa for this process. Likewise, Jim Ross is another who has publicly lambasted these slaps as an embarrassing part of the wrestling business.

Given their previous propensity to throw shade WWE's way, it seems only right to expect plentiful exaggerated thigh slaps when the Young Bucks are in action at AEW Revolution this Sunday.
