Kevin Owens' recent injury came at a time when WWE was plotting big things for the former Universal Champion.

This is according to Dave Meltzer, who reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that while nothing was 100% confirmed, there was talk of WWE adding Owens to its upcoming men's WarGames match pre-injury. KO would have appeared as a surprise entrant, though his injury likely costs him this opportunity.

Owens is believed to have been hurt during a house show in Madison, Wisconsin this weekend. The referee had to help him away from the ring following his match, with Meltzer later confirming Kevin had suffered a suspected MCL sprain.

Survivor Series 2022 will host WWE's first set of main roster WarGames matches on Saturday 26 November. Currently, the men's match looks set to pit The Bloodline against The Brawling Brutes and Drew McIntyre. With a full Bloodline lineup, that'd be 5-on-4, opening the door for a final participant.

Owens entering as a surprise entrant would mirror his crown-popping appearance in the 2019 NXT bout, where he returned to the black-and-gold brand for the first time in years, teaming with Tommaso Ciampa, Keith Lee, and Dominik Dijakovic against The Undisputed Era.
