Ever since the announcement that the 2017 Royal Rumble would be held in San Antonio, fans have wondered if the event might feature the return of three-time WWE World Champion Shawn Michaels. It turns out, though, that there's one person who's not terribly excited about the idea of another HBK match: Michaels himself.

Michaels has been making the media rounds lately to promote his upcoming film, The Resurrection of Gavin Stone, including an appearance with notorious white supremacist talk show host Tomi Lahren. In an interview with Troy Hughes and Kevin Hageland on Dallas's 105.3 THE FAN, Michaels mentioned that nobody from WWE has contacted him about appearing at the Royal Rumble. He went on to say that he didn't even know if anybody cared, and that, in his estimation, WWE has happily moved on from him. Thus far, nobody at WWE has refuted Michaels's comments.

News of the dome show in San Antonio led many fans to wonder if he could come out of retirement for a WWE World Championship match with AJ Styles - not just because the city is Michaels's hometown, but because he won his second WWE World Championship in the very same arena at the 1997 Royal Rumble. AJ Styles added fuel to the fire, tweeting the fan-made promotional image for the bout and asking if anyone was interested.
