Much like many wrestling fans had feared, it looks like WWE did indeed have plans for Asuka to drop the Raw Women’s Championship to Lacey Evans at last month’s Elimination Chamber.

As per Fightful Select, the original plan was for the Sassy Southern Belle to topple the Empress of Tomorrow at the February PPV. From there, Evans would’ve walked into WrestleMania 37 as the defending Raw Women’s Champion against Charlotte Flair.

Where Asuka is concerned, Fightful didn’t detail where this would’ve left her for this year’s Showcase of the Immortals. Purely speculating here, but a singles match with Rhea Ripley could’ve been one option, and similarly a bout against a strongly built Shayna Baszler is something fans would still be keen on if handled correctly. Other than that, it’s pretty slim pickings on the Raw brand right now.

Of course, the entire feud between Lacey Evans and Charlotte Flair has now been completely scrapped due to Evans becoming pregnant with her second child.

This week’s Raw saw Flair make it known that she has plans to challenge Asuka for the Raw Women’s Championship at WrestleMania 37, although that match is far from locked in right now.
