WWE Is SERIOUSLY Taking The Piss With Its Latest Netflix Censorship... (WWE News)
Want to rewatch Bron Breakker vs. Seth Rollins from Night of Champions? Good luck with that...
With Netflix often censoring certain curse words on WWE programming, the streaming giant has gone one step further with its latest piece of censorship.
For those of us who watched last weekend's Night of Champions live or shortly after the original broadcast, the Seth Rollins vs. Bron Breakker steel cage match saw the second-generation Steiner start bleeding from his left eye midway through the bout. This was more than a minor cut, but far from a complete bloodbath, and given how sparingly we see blood in a WWE ring, it actually added a lot to the match; the striking visual of Breakker with a good portion of one side of his face covered in blood bringing an extra sense of brutality to what had been a fairly paint-by-numbers, plunder war WWE cage match until that point.
However, if you go back and watch Night of Champions now, several days removed from the event, as picked up on by fans online - including this Reddit thread - Netflix has now censored this blood in the worst way possible. Now, previously, there have been times over the years when any notable blood had seen that part of the broadcast switch to black and white. Here, though, Netflix has decided to blur out Bron Breakker's entire head, making him feel like one of those old WWF-branded turnbuckle pads that got blurred out for a spell.
Interestingly, the WWE YouTube highlights footage of this match features Bron's blood as clear as day, presented exactly as it was during the initial Netflix broadcast of Night of Champions, suggesting that this blurring is very much a Netflix call rather than a WWE one. Either way, it's hugely distracting for those wanting to go back and watch this match on Netflix at any point.
