Booker T is on the verge of making an in-ring comeback.

The former WWE and WCW Champion's Reality of Wrestling promotion confirmed earlier this week that Booker will step back through the ropes on 22 January, teaming with protégé Gaspar Hernandez against undisclosed opposition.

It'll be the first time that Booker has competed since February 2020, when he reprised his GI Bro gimmick for an eight-man tag team bout in ROW. Now 56 years old, Booker has competed only sporadically since departing WWE as an in-ring competitor in 2012, having worked four bouts in the past decade.

Booker remains a regular participant on WWE's pre-pay-per-view Kickoff Shows. His last live, on-camera appearance outwith this environment came at Royal Rumble 2021, when he accompanied future WrestleMania worker Bad Bunny for a live performance of the rapper's 2021 track, Booker T.

In December, Booker said the following of a potential in-ring return while appearing on D-Von Dudley's Table Talk show (h/t POST Wrestling):-

"Yeah, forget about it. I stay in this kind of shape because I stay away from the wrestling ring. Even when I do the [WWE] Kickoff show, right? You will not find me within 50 yards of the wrestling ring. I haven’t been in a WWE wrestling ring since 2014 and I got a phobia about getting back in the ring. That was a great life for me, but I don’t have any itch to scratch anymore man. Life was good then but I’m embracing where I’m at right now in life, being a boss, you know what I mean? And taking charge and trying to create, you know, memories and moments for the next generation but you know man, we had our time in the sun man. We had our time. It’s no reason to try to go back and rehash greatness and touch that. No reason."

That itch will be scratched later this month.
