WWE Legend Injured On Last Night's SmackDown
This WWE icon suffered a bad fall on this week's SmackDown. Here's an update on what happened!
Rey Mysterio reportedly suffered a concussion during his United States Title number one contendership battle with fellow LWO member Santos Escobar on Friday's episode of WWE SmackDown.
PWTorch says the masked icon landed badly after taking an Escobar dive outside the ring. He was tended to by medics at ringside, then WWE ultimately waved the match off and declared Santos the winner. That doesn't alter company plans for SummerSlam next weekend though - Escobar was going to win and then challenge Austin Theory on 5 August anyway.
There's no word quite yet on exactly how much time Rey will miss, if any. Creative didn't seem to have any plans for him during SummerSlam season before this concussion, but there's a chance Mysterio would've been on the pay-per-view to give Santos a pep talk before the bout with Theory.
He'd have surely been involved in celebrations with Escobar if WWE switches the title on the next PLE too.
Stay tuned for more updates on this when they become available. All here at WhatCulture wish Mysterio a speedy recovery, and fans will hope to see him back in rings soon.
