WWE Legend Kurt Angle Undergoes Double Knee Replacement Surgery
Best wishes to WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle following this major procedure.
Professional wrestling legend Kurt Angle underwent major surgery on Tuesday.
As revealed by Angle himself on Twitter, the WWE Hall of Famer went under the knife for two knee replacements. Though he knows that, in his own words, "rehab is going to be a b*tch", he is determined to get through it.
Kurt's words came accompanied by the following short video shot from his hospital bed:-
Thank you all for your prayers and best wishes for my 2 knee replacement surgeries today. So far so good. I realize rehab is going to be a bitch, but I’m ready for it. Angle, 53, has been retired from wrestling since facing Baron Corbin in his final bout at WrestleMania 35 in April 2019. Blighted by myriad physical issues throughout his career and beyond, the former Olympian, who famously won his 1996 freestyle wrestling gold medal with a broken neck, last appeared onscreen for WWE in May 2020, announcing Matt Riddle's then-impending call-up from NXT to SmackDown.
June 2021 saw Angle lift the lid on the extent of his physical issues, claiming he was "in extreme pain all day":-
“I’m in extreme pain all day long. I do maintenance on my body all day, I do my neck traction. I have a thing called the iron neck. I have anti-gravity machine rollers. I stretch, I do a lot of weight training, I work on my body 2-3 hours a day. I have to. I’m so banged up now, I sacrificed a lot of my body in professional wrestling and amateur wrestling. I have to blame both sports, not just one. I’m paying for it now, but I’m managing it.”
