WWE Legend Shoots On "Ugly" AEW Refereeing
This WWE Hall Of Famer doesn't like the standard of refereeing in AEW.
WWE Hall Of Famer and current IMPACT star Bully Ray called AEW's refereeing "ugly" during the latest edition of Busted Open Radio.
Ray said the "poor refereeing in certain circumstances is as blatant as the great wrestling". The former Dudley Boy said he's only "trying to protect" the credibility of officials by pointing out things they can improve on, and he thinks All Elite's refs have a lot of improving to do overall.
Several fans have bashed the standard of reffing in AEW via social media. Most criticism seems to stem from the fact they ignore easy counts when illegal wrestlers interfere during tag-team matches, which is also something Bully has a problem with.
"Why is the ref on the floor with the two guys for a minute before he even climbs back in the ring, walks around for a little bit, and then decides to get to a count?".
That complaint was specifically for the MJF vs. Adam Cole bout which aired on Wednesday's episode of Dynamite. Elaborating, Ray also said: "They do the table spot. Referee comes back outside, talking to them, talking to them, talking to them, talking to them. Then, the referee decides to roll back into the ring, and once MJF gets back in the ring, [the ref] starts counting Adam Cole only. How does that make sense?".
