WWE Legend To Sign $1 Million A Year Deal With AEW?
Another major coup for All Elite Wrestling.
Jim Ross only announced that he'd be leaving WWE upon his current contract's expiration on 29 March a few days ago, but it looks like the legendary play-by-play announcer's next move is already on the cards.
According to Rajah.com, J.R. will ink a multi-year contract worth close to $1 million per year with All Elite Wrestling.
Rajah are the only source reporting this, and there has been no official confirmation from Ross or the promotion, so it's best to take this story with a hint of cynicism. Nobody should be surprised if he does end up with AEW, though.
Ross' name has been linked with AEW long before the promotion was officially announced, as stories last year linked him and Chris Jericho with a new Bullet Club-affiliated project. His WWE deal obviously prevented him from negotiating, but there's now every chance the legendary announcer could soon become the voice of AEW.
Used sparingly throughout his most recent WWE run, Ross hasn't appeared on television since last April's Greatest Royal Rumble pre-show panel. He is, without question, the most revered wrestling commentator of all time, but he's well over a decade removed from his prime. Whether or not he's the best man to voice AEW is debatable.
