WWE Mae Young Classic 2: New Details Revealed
Taping dates and first participants announced.
This year's WWE Mae Young Classic will film in Winter Park, Florida on August 7th and 8th, according to Bryan Alvarez and Mike Sempervive of Wrestling Observer Live.
Last year saw the company tape four rounds of action (from the round of 32 to the semi-finals) across two nights at Full Sail University. The shows were then released in batches on August 28th and September 4th, with a live final airing on the Network six days later.
Though WWE announced the second Mae Young Classic during this year's Hall Of Fame show, they are yet to confirm the taping dates themselves, so it's best to apply a touch of cynicism here.
A couple of big-name participants have also been teased, both by the Observer, and noted Performance Center insider Casey Michael of Squared Circle Sirens.
The first is 22-year-old Toni Storm, who reached last year's semi-finals, and has been strongly linked with a full-time WWE contract in recent weeks. If these sources are to be believed, she'll be joined by Io Shirai - a Japanese wunderkind who had a WWE offer rescinded following a failed medical last May, but was widely believed to be the company's original choice to win the first MYC.
