This past Monday's WWE Main Event tapings had a match removed at the last minute.

While this taping - which aired on Thursday - saw Apollo Crews vs. Akira Tozawa and T-Bar vs. Reggie take place, there was also originally meant to be an R-Truth vs. Otis contest. As per Fightful Select, that third bout was due to be taped for this week's Main Event, but ultimately the final decision was made to keep this episode as a two-match affair.

Despite rumblings that Ariya Daivari was to produce Truth vs. Otis, it was actually meant to be Shane Helms overseeing this axed match.

Where Daivari is concerned, he did get to serve as the producer for Crews vs. Tozawa on Main Event. Making this particularly notable, this was the first match that the 33-year-old has produced on his own. Currently in the midst of a tryout for a producer role, Daivari has been working alongside seasoned producers such as Helms and Chris Park recently. Given how he was trusted to handle a contest on his own, that should bode well for this tryout becoming a permanent arrangement for the Minnesota native.
