WWE Money In The Bank 2017 - 10 Things That Must Happen Tonight!
Surely we're going to be seeing somebody flipping off of a ladder, right?
In the past four weeks, the SmackDown brand has done a pretty decent job of hyping up this weekend’s Money in the Bank show.
We’ve seen the blockbuster announcement of the first-ever women’s Money in the Bank ladder match, while over on the men’s side of things, the line-up is every bit as intriguing in itself. And say what you want about the straight-out-of-left-field pushes of Jinder Mahal and Lana—at least it’s kept things interesting.
But that all amounts to squat if they don’t follow up by delivering on that groundwork at the actual PPV. Looking up and down the card—which isn’t a particularly lengthy one, mind you—there are a number of booking decisions, plot twists, and spots that, in many cases, are simply too good to pass up on. And in other cases, it just wouldn’t make sense for anything else to play out.
We'll kick things off with a potential result that, to put things mildly, will likely leave some opinions divided.
10. A Win For Jinder Mahal
If the company really is serious about Jinder Mahal and his main event push, they’re going to have to keep the belt on him for some time. Four weeks is far too short a time frame within which to judge whether this 'experiment' can be deemed a success or a failure.
So, based on that thinking, Mahal needs to beat Randy Orton at Money in the Bank this Sunday. Admittedly he could conceivably lose via disqualification and in doing so retain the belt, but with his only match since winning the championship being a four-minute victory over Mojo Rawley, he could do with a major win to his name to really kickstart this title run.
The scalp of successfully retaining against a guy of Orton’s calibre would certainly constitute that major win, and with 13 world titles to his name already, realistically Orton can afford to take the odd defeat here and there.
