WWE Movie News With Hulk Hogan, Ken Jeong & David Hasselhoff
Ken Jeong stars in a comedy with an appearance from The Hulkster.
LOS ANGELES and STAMFORD, Conn. Ashok Amritrajs Hyde Park Entertainment, Image Nation Abu Dhabi and WWE Studios announced that they are joining up again to co-produce a comedy with the working title Untitled Celebrity Death Pool. Ken Jeong (The Hangover, Community) has signed on to star in the satire, which centers on a struggling nightclub owner whom, after amassing a large debt from a loan shark, sets out to win his long-running celebrity death pool by attempting to kill his chosen celebrity, David Hasselhoff. Darren Grant (Diary of a Mad Black Woman) will direct from a script written by Peter Hoare. In addition to Hasselhoff, legendary WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan and an increasing number of other celebrities have signed on for various supporting roles and cameo appearances. Pre-production for the film commences this September in Los Angeles, with a theatrical release anticipated for 2015.It's not a typical WWE Films project where they're the main producer and it's going straight to DVD. This is going to be a major film. It's similar to what they did with The Call where they co-produced the film and they sent one of their talents to be involved in it. That film had David Otunga in it. This one has Hulk Hogan. Ken Jeong is a guy that has been in a number of comedic films in recent years. He's even been on Raw five years ago when he co-hosted the show with Jeremy Piven, which led to the time when PIven referred to SummerSlam as "the Summerfest" and people still make jokes about it because he screwed up. His role in the first Hangover film was great. They overused him in the other ones. His performance in Knocked Up was hilarious. As for Hogan, we don't know what kind of role he's going to have in it. Since the film is a comedy about a "celebrity death pool" he's probably going to play himself instead of a character. The same goes for Hasselhoff and whatever other celebs they can get for it. While Hogan hasn't had a lot of success in films, he loves doing them and it's no surprise that Hogan is doing a movie for WWE. As it said in the press release, filming starts in September and it will be released in theaters at some point in 2015.
