UPDATE: The WWE Network was not hacked. It briefly experienced technical difficulties. Find out more at http://whatculture.com/wwe/wwe-network-hacked.php The WWE Network has experienced a major failure in the last twenty four hours. The service went down and was unavailable for a time, in what is being reported as a hack. "This is unofficial right now, but someone in WWE said the Network was hacked," Bryan Alvarez said on Wrestling Observer Radio. Further details on the shutdown haven't emerged. It's just the source that talked to Alvarez, so there's no way of knowing if this really was a hack or a case of a technical failure. As of right now, the Network is back up and running. This has been just the latest embarrassment in WWE's Network history. The service has been much derided for lack of content updates and failure to deliver fresh content. From the commercial standpoint, it has been a real struggle to attain the target million subscriber goal. Currently there are only 731,000 subscribers, hence why WWE have gave away the month of November for free as an incentive to sign up. The biggest Network debacle would have to be the UK Launch. A worldwide rollout was seen as a way of improving subscription numbers, and the UK was an obvious target market. However, in the hour before the Novemeber 3rd launch, WWE suddenly pulled it without explanation. As such, there's been loud "Where's Our Network" chants during WWE's current tour of the UK. "WWE Network Down" and "WWE Network Not Working" are continuing to trend on Twitter. Meanwhile, the WWE are yet again staying silent on complaints about their service.
