WWE's 2015 European Tour continued with a stop in Newcastle, England on April 9th. It was one of the stronger line ups that WWE has brought to Newcastle in quite some time, with John Cena, Randy Orton, Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose all appearing on this leg of the tour. As a result, the Metro Radio Arena was definitely fuller than usual. The Cena effect and the school holidays meant that there was a stronger presence of younger fans, with a really upbeat energy to the atmosphere. Metro Radio Arena confirmed that the show was a sell out, with 8,000 fans plus. It absolutely looked full, with only cheap seats remaining at the start of the week. The so called smart fans didn't have a huge presence and the usual smark chants were definitely drowned out by the casual fans who were popping and chanting exactly as WWE would have wanted. Fans were treated to a really good show, with Rollins vs Orton and Cena vs Rusev being particularly impressive. Commercially, it matched the critical achievements that were made in the ring. Merchandise was selling very well and ticket sales had clearly been strong. WWE will be very pleased with the revenues generated and the entertaining ring work that was produced. This is only the second date of the overall 21 events that will take place in the space of 11 days - Vince McMahon is going to make a lot of money this next week! Here's some of the observations you may have missed from WWE Newcastle.
