The Wrestling Observer reports that WWE want to bring in Stone Cold Steve Austin for an appearance at WrestleMania 30. The company has been trying to think of a storyline for the biggest star in the history of the business, and have pitched to Austin the idea of him being at Mania in a non-wrestling role. At this stage it is unknown if any deal could be worked out, Austin had previously stated that he didn't want to go just for the sake of it, he was happy to watch from home and only wanted to appear if there was a good reason. The idea a year ago was that Austin would come in to face Triple H at WrestleMania 30, but those plans have long been disregarded. WWE will now see if they can convince Austin to return with a character role instead, with just a few weeks to thrash out any deal. One reason Austin might be tempted to return is the financial benefits of a proposed "Big Four" merchandise line. The report states that WWE want to make a big push for merchandise to be built around the big four legends of Hogan, Undertaker, Ultimate Warrior and Austin. Obviously it fits in nicely with the thirtieth anniversary of WrestleMania and it would be only right to have all four men there to launch the range of memorabilia. Austin has always been a savvy businessman, anyone who listens to his podcast knows he believes in doing business when the money is right, he even encouraged CM Punk not to walk away from the money on the table at WrestleMania. With a spot and money now on the table at Mania for Austin, will he himself now return to the WWE?
