It was announced on Thursday at the San Diego Comic Con that new NXT Champion Finn Balor will defend the title against former champ Kevin Owens at the NXT Takeover: Brooklyn event on August 22 at the Barclays Center. It will be part of a special Saturday night live broadcast that will take place one night before SummerSlam. The rematch was announced by NXT General William Regal with both Balor and Owens on hand for an event that also marked the debut of their first action figures. They were also joined by NXT stars Sami Zayn and Charlotte in a panel that answered fan questions. WWE Champion Seth Rollins was advertised for the event, but he said he was in Los Angeles filming a commercial. Balor said he spent eight years in NJPW, so it was an honor to win the title in Japan, which was like his second home. Balor said that Japan is different, but New York will be special. Owens said he spent eight years wresting in Brooklyn and that there's no way he's leaving without the title. It makes a lot of sense to do a rematch because Owens is the biggest star associated with the NXT brand and this is probably going to be his last match in NXT since he's a full timer on the main WWE roster.During the panel discussion, Prowrestling.net noted that Zayn mentioned he's not sure when he will return from his shoulder injury although he was optimistic that it would be in late 2015 or early 2016. Owens took a shot at his best friend saying that he can always say he made it on Raw before Zayn did. Tickets go on sale for NXT Takeover Brooklyn on Saturday July 18. Go to WWE.com for more info.
