WWE Pays Roddy Piper Tribute During Raw

WWE honours the Hall of Famer who passed away last week.

This week's edition of Raw started with ten bell salute in honor of the WWE Hall of Famer "Rowdy" Roddy Piper. Clad in "Hot Rod" t-shirts, the WWE roster stood to pay their respects to the wrestling legend who passed away last Friday. Following the ten bell salute, Piper's music played and then a very touching three minute tribute video aired. There were reports from people at the show that noted that Triple H and Vince McMahon watched the video from the stage while the others went to the back. The video also aired during the third hour of Raw. If you're wondering, Hulk Hogan was in a couple of the Piper photographs that were in the video, so while WWE is choosing to ignore Hogan due to his controversial remarks, it was tough to completely leave him out since he was Piper's biggest rival.

During Raw, there were several performers that wore Hot Rod shirts either during matches like Paige and Dean Ambrose or at ringside like Alicia Fox. When The Miz set up his "Miz TV" talk show segment, he mentioned that Piper had the greatest talk show in WWE history while mentioning most of the other prominent talk shows that WWE has had over the years. He was wearing a "Hot Rod" shirt while he did it too. There's no word on when or if WWE will air a tribute special to Piper on WWE Network, but that could happen next week after Raw.
