WWE Planning To Split Up The Dudley Boyz?

Bubba Ray going solo?

By Ross Tweddell /

There has been talk inside WWE creative of splitting up The Dudley Boyz, according to a report in The Wrestling Observer. Even though nothing has been set in stone, the report claims that the plans would see a Bully Ray version of Bubba Ray return to our screens - a character that saw him win the TNA World Heavyweight Championship twice. Dave Meltzer has noted that he doesn€™t know if anything would transpire from this because these ideas 'get pitched all the time.' The Dudleyz have had their feuds with The New Day and Wyatts, but you would have to concede that they have fallen down in relevance since they returned in the summer and have looked lost for too long now. Seeing them depart the roster wouldn't disturb things too much. Questions also have to be asked as to what role Bubba would be given on the roster as Kevin Owens is already being pushed as the bully wrestler who kicks ass. Would Vince McMahon really want two larger gentlemen as his primary heels with such similar characters? Then again, the injury situation that has ran roughshod through his roster could force his hand and WWE are desperately in need of heat-getting bad guys... and the Bully Ray character was so effective in TNA for that. You do have to wonder what all this means for poor old D-Von though.
