WWE Plans To Hold King Of The Ring 2021 Internationally?
WWE reportedly won't film their King Of The Ring finals in the United States.
Andrew Zarian, who helps host the 'Mat Men' podcast, has claimed on Twitter that WWE plans to hold the 2021 King Of The Ring finals in Saudi Arabia. That, he says, will follow weeks of TV matches on Raw and SmackDown before WWE's next Saudi special.
Zarian also claimed that WWE would do exactly the same with their rumoured Queen Of The Ring tournament too. In other words, don't be shocked if an upcoming Saudi stadium show's undercard is sprinkled with some King and Queen magic.
Some fans responded to the tweet by joke-congratulating Hulk Hogan on becoming the 2021 KOTR. That's funny, but they shouldn't tempt fate! Seriously though, it's anyone's guess what WWE has planned for the crown. They've already taken the 'King' gimmick off Baron Corbin and handed it to Shinsuke Nakamura this year, and having two royals running around on telly doesn't seem viable.
Queen Of The Ring is arguably more interesting then.
That would be a true first for the company, and could be an ideal way to promote more female feuds that don't revolve around title belts. That's something each division sorely needs.
