WWE intends on holding its first ever Queen of the Ring tournament sometime in 2021, reports Wrestling Inc.'s Raj Giri.

The report states that while it's currently unknown when, exactly, WWE will look to hold the competition, current plans call for it to air on Peacock.

If it happens, this would be the first X of the Ring tournament WWE has held since 2019, when Baron Corbin was crowned King. Debuting in 1985, KOTR was once a tentpole tournament for WWE, with big victories for the likes of Bret Hart, Steve Austin, and Kurt Angle producing near-instant mega-pushes, sending the winners stratospheric. The likes of 1995 victor Mabel weren't so successful, but sporadically, KOTR was a star-maker.

Queen of the Ring has been rumoured several times in the past. Regardless, WWE has been reticent to produce shows specific to its women's division, with no sequel to 2018's acclaimed Evolution pay-per-view on the horizon and the Mae Young Classic defunct since 2018.

Across Raw, SmackDown, NXT, and NXT UK, WWE unquestionably has the depth and numbers to pull Queen of the Ring off. Despite often facing questionable booking, these divisions are stuffed with talent.
