Edge won MITB from Mr. Kennedy on the May 7, 2007 edition of Raw after goading the Kennedy into defending the briefcase in a match. Edge attacked Kennedy on the way to the ring and won the match to become the first-ever two time Mr. Money in the Bank. The following night at the SmackDown taping, Edge cashed in his newly won briefcase to defeat The Undertaker for the World Heavyweight Championship. This, just moments after The Deadman had just wrestled Batista inside a steel cage and been attacked by Mark Henry. Behind the scenes, the MITB and title change were both due to both Mr. Kennedy and The Undertaker needing time off to heal from injuries. Edge picked up The Undertaker's feud with Batista and successfully defended the title against The Animal throughout the summer until he was forced to vacate the title when he tore his pectoral muscle.
