WWE Raw: 5 Things You Might Have Missed (Jan 11)

3. Vince McMahon Doesn't Know Dolph Ziggler's Name

The opening segment of Raw saw Vince and Stephanie McMahon bring everyone on the roster (with the exception of the company€™s actual stars) onto the stage, with the idea being that one of them would be the next WWE World Heavyweight Champion following the Royal Rumble, as whoever wins that match gets the belt. Of course the problem was that everyone on the stage was either a joke (The Ascension, R-Truth), has been pushed hard but repeatedly failed to get over (Sheamus), or will never get the title due to Vince€™s predilections about what a wrestler should look like (Kevin Owens). Then there was Dolph Ziggler, a former multiple-time World Champion whom the hardcore fans adore, is consistent in the ring, and can get a good match out of anybody. He is also a company mainstay, having worked for WWE in one form or another for over a decade. Maybe now is his time? Maybe, but probably not, given his boss doesn't even know his name. Vince referred €“ repeatedly €“ to Dolph Ziggler as Dolph Ziegler during the segment, a matter even more galling considering Dolph€™s gimmick a few years back was going around the locker room shaking hands and introducing himself. He even did it to Vince once. If Vince McMahon doesn't know who he is by now, maybe it€™s time for him to leave and reinvent himself somewhere that will appreciate his talents, like New Japan.
