WWE RAW 9/9/2013 Review: 5 Things We Learned

3. Curtis Axel: At This Point, Are We Still Interested?

WWE started off on the right foot with Curtis Axel, son of legendary wrestler Mr. Perfect Curt Hennig, by pairing him with Paul Heyman. Axel has proven time and again that he just struggles on the mic, but he actually has the skills in the ring to more than make up for it. It was a logical move to put him with Heyman initially, but a terrible idea to put that Intercontinental Title on him. Axel's character has been stagnant alongside Heyman in recent weeks. WWE has been using him to hold the fort down inside the CM Punk Gets His Revenge storyline in the absence of Brock Lesnar on WWE TV, and now he just feels like an afterthought. WWE needs to cut him loose from Heyman, and let his in-ring ability speak for itself, much like they have done so for talents like Dolph Ziggler and Daniel Bryan.
