WWE.com have today announced that SmackDown Live! talent James Ellsworth has been let go from the company.

Ellsworth's final involvement with the promotion saw him lose an inter-gender match to Becky Lynch, before his belle Carmella ended their on-screen relationship after several weeks of humiliating her crony.

The departure is the latest in a slew of talent releases this month, with Emma, Darren Young, and Summer Rae all having had their tenures cut short by the Stamford promotion.

Ellsworth - under the ring name of Jimmy Dream - was a regular on the independent circuit for over a decade before he was picked up by WWE. After a few appearances as part of Adam Rose's partying entourage, it was his memorable squash at the hands of fellow-former Rosebud Braun Strowman which endeared him to the WWE audience - and staff.

The successful one-shot deal blossomed into a one-year contract, and the new cult hero was drafted to SmackDown where he remarkably interfered in the WWE title picture involving Dean Ambrose and AJ Styles. When the novelty eventually wore off, the erstwhile jobber was repositioned as the perfect lackey for the obnoxious Carmella. In addition to serving as her lapdog, he also controversially claimed the first ever women's Money in the Bank briefcase on her behalf - cheapening the historic match in the process.

WWE's statement on Ellsworth's release offered no details beyond the standard boilerplate blurb. Check back for more information as and when it emerges.
