WWE Release Statement On Latest Round Of Roster Cuts
18 wrestlers lost their spots in WWE last night. Here's what the company has to say...
A total of 18 WWE wrestlers were cut from the company's talent roster yesterday, bringing their 2021 total up to 71 in this year of bloodletting.
While the promotion has opted against acknowledging the releases on its official website, it has released this short statement to The New York Post's Ryan Glasspiegel, which was published shortly after the names went public:-
“We wish them the best in their future endeavors."
A round of new WWE releases had been rumoured throughout Thursday, with the company also due to unveil its Q3 2021 earnings reports (and accompanying call) that afternoon. The names ended up coming out after said call, on which the company announced that its revenue for the quarter was up 15% year-over-year, hitting $255.8 million.
As has often been the case throughout 2021, WWE has at least partly attributed these releases to budget cuts.
