WWE Released This Wrestler While They Were Recovering From Injury

One of WWE's most recent roster cuts came while the wrestler was injured.

WWE released over 20 talents assigned to its NXT UK brand on 18 August, doing so ahead of NXT UK's shuttering and the announcement that it is soon to be replaced by a new localised developmental arm, NXT Europe.

Amongst that number was Flash Morgan Webster, who, according to Fightful Select, was still recovering from an injury at the time of his departure.

Webster's injury meant he hadn't wrestled since WWE's October 2021 NXT UK tapings. While a surgeon had cleared him to return just before his WWE release, a physiotherapist had not, with Webster believed to be "nowhere near" ready to hit the ring.

The 32-year-old had also re-signed with WWE prior to being released, having previously been bound to a three-year NXT contract signed in 2019. Although Flash had previously turned down two extension offers including pay raises, Fightful were told he was re-signed to allow him to be taken care of during his injury recovery - which no longer appears to be the case.

If bound to a standard 30-day non-compete clause as a contracted WWE NXT talent, Webster will be free to sign and appear for other promotions from 17 September.
