WWE Releases 2020-2021: Where Are They Now?
63. Shane Thorne/Slapjack
Released: 18 November 2021
Now: Shane Thorne must've been glad to see the back of the dire Slapjack gimmick when he left WWE in November 2021. His subsequent work in companies like New Japan and PWG is retribution (ahem) for the sorry state his sports entertainment career was in towards the end.
Hopefully, Thorne is happier where he is.
62. Steve Cutler & Wesley Blake
Released: 4 February/15 April 2021
Now: Cutler was released on 4 February and Blake on 15 April 2021. Their final spot in WWE was as backup for 'King' Corbin, but that didn't lead to much before they were let go. Steve has been working for IMPACT ever since, but Wesley tragically lost his wife Sara Lee in October.
The entire pro wrestling community rallied around him to show deserved sympathy.
61. Jaxson Ryker
Released: 18 November 2021
Now: What of the pair's old Forgotten Sons leader Jaxson Ryker? He seemed destined for a singles push on Raw in the summer of 2021, then surprisingly got canned in November. That, of course, had come after Ryker irked several backstage with his political views.
Jaxson has retreated to the indy circuit for now.
60. Franky Monet
Released: 4 November 2021
Now: The Franky Monet gimmick is no more; as Taya Valkyrie, "Franky" currently holds titles in both IMPACT Wrestling and AAA. She's a walking, talking example of how to parlay WWE disappointment into success in other companies, and it's great to see.
Taya has also appeared for groups like MLW.
59. Ariya Daivari
Released: 25 June 2021
Now: Ari Daivari is a leader (of sorts) for The Trustbusters faction in AEW these days. The group was initially presented as one that could become a threat, but then they started doing comedy for a nothing bit with FTW Champ Hook.
That included Ari attempting to buy the belt from Taz's son. "Thrilling" scenes ensued.
