Seth Rollins' decision to acknowledge Chicago's "CM Punk" chants during last night's Raw "Town Hall Meeting" segment may have already backfired on the former WWE Champion.

Today's episode of Wrestling Observer Radio saw Dave Meltzer report that Vince McMahon is "furious" that Rollins responded to the chants, stating that this wasn't a scripted line, but one ad-libbed by Seth.

If Meltzer is to be believed, this is because Vince apparently hates teasing matches and programmes that he has no plans to deliver. He also stresses that there's a chance Vince and Seth could have concocted this backstage story to work the locker-room, though this is unlikely.

Raw's opening segment began with the fans chanting "CM Punk!" at Rollins, who said that he tried to get the new WWE Backstage correspondent to show up, but Punk would rather "sit behind a desk in Los Angeles and talk about a change he's too afraid to make himself."

That Dave's last attempt at reporting a backstage tale revolving around Rollins ended in a retraction means some will understandably approach this new story with cynicism. Nonetheless, it's easy to see why McMahon might be upset with Seth teasing something that can't be paid off, with Punk contracted to FOX, not WWE.
