WWE Royal Rumble: 10 Most Criminally Overlooked Matches

It's not ALL about the Rumble match, you know...

By Lewis Howse /

While the majority of the hype for the 2016 Royal Rumble PPV/special event has been centred around the Rumble match, with Roman Reigns' WWE World Heavyweight Title on the line in it, there are one or two matches on the undercard that could well end up stealing the show. Hell, if the last two Rumble outings are anything to go by, they probably well. Specifically, Dean Ambrose versus Kevin Owens in a Last Man Standing match for the Intercontinental Title just screams 'sleeper match', i.e. one which some might think 'Oh, this again?' but actually turns out to be a genuine show-stealer, taking some of the shine away form the Rumble itself. This has happened countless times over the years, and not just with random thrown-together matches. Sure, there have been plenty of great matches come right out of left field, but also others that have lived up to their hype and billing. Despite this, they remain somewhat overlooked, due to the fact that most of the time the conversation comes back to how great/mediocre/poor the Rumble itself was. That's the marquee match and that's fine, but we shouldn't forget the efforts of those that dazzled away from the annual 30-man over-the-top-rope battle royal. The following are ten matches that are pretty damn good and well worth revisiting, but have somehow been glossed over or at least not given as much as respect as they should. There's some genuine classics in here, folks. So let's get to it. 10...9...8...7...6...
