It used to be a much-welcomed tradition to flank the lone ring in the arena with 360 degrees of loud and passionate New York wrestling fans. It was a beautiful thing, and somewhere in between moving towards high definition programming and a stronger relationship with mainstream pop culture, a wrestling tradition was replaced with a huge flashy stage and a ramp, disguising Madison Square Garden on television as just another venue. Royal Rumble 2000 is a gem in the rough appearance-wise, bringing fans back to the old MSG staging, which some may argue is an ode to wrestlings past. Theres something beautiful about the squared circle standing the tallest without an outside force trumping over the talent in the ring.
